Add FerryHawk to your iPhone home screen
Five taps in Safari and FerryHawk sits on your home screen like any other app — full screen, no address bar, one tap from anywhere.
Installing changes how you open FerryHawk, nothing else. Your alerts still arrive by text either way — you don’t need to install anything to get notified when a sailing opens up.

1
Open ferryhawk.ca in Safari
This only works in Safari. If you’re reading this in Chrome or Firefox, copy the address over to Safari first.
-
2
Tap the Share button
It’s the square with an arrow pointing out of it, in the row of icons at the bottom of the screen.
The Share button sits between the arrows and the bookmarks icon. -
3
Scroll down to “Add to Home Screen”
The share menu is a long list. Keep scrolling past the bookmark options until you see it.
Rows above and below it will differ depending on your iOS version — look for the name, not the position. -
4
Check that “Open as Web App” is on
On newer iPhones there’s a toggle here. Leave it switched on — that’s what makes FerryHawk open full screen instead of reopening Safari.
Older iPhones won’t show this toggle. That’s fine — skip to the next step. -
5
Tap Add
The FerryHawk icon lands on your home screen. Open it from there and it runs full screen, with your last route and phone number already filled in.
Not seeing “Add to Home Screen”?
Two things account for almost every case. Either you’re not in Safari — Chrome and Firefox on iOS don’t offer it — or you haven’t scrolled far enough down the share menu, which is longer than it looks.
